The Chiropractic Adjustment (Spinal Manipulation)
The most well known and most powerful tool used by chiropractors. The chiropractic adjustment aims to restore joint mobility and has been shown to reduce local inflammation, establish proper bio mechanics, and decrease pain. There are many styles of chiropractic adjustment, ranging from very gentle and light, to firm yet comfortable. Below are a few of the styles we use at Bristol Chiropractic.
Most Gentle - Activator Methods
An activator instrument, pictured here, is used to deliver a specific and measured force into each joint. This method of manipulation can be used on most everyone at any age. The force can be adjusted to your tolerance, so it is always comfortable!
Gentle - Thompson Drop Table
This technique uses spring loaded sections of the treatment table to load the joints and deliver a comfortable force to release the restricted, sore, and painful joints.
Most Firm - Diversified Technique
The traditional chiropractic methods. This includes many of the most commonly used techniques such as the side posture adjustment for the low back and the "quick twist" for the neck. These techniques are very safe and effective, and can vary in the amount of force applied.
Active Release Techniques
ART® is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. Active Release Techniques can help almost anyone feel and function better than ever.
Flexion Distraction is a chiropractic technique used to treat many conditions of the lumbar spine. It is a non-surgical technique aimed at increasing spinal motion and resolving disc bulges and disc herniations. The treatment is excellent as a safe, gentle, non-force procedure and works well to take pressure off the spinal nerves that may be injured or dysfunctional. This technique can help you overcome that nagging low back pain today!
Movement is life. Many people experience stubborn, chronic pain due to poor movement patterns. At Bristol Chiropractic, every treatment plan comes with an exercise program to help you gain control over your pain.
